Updates

crux keeps itself, Claude Code and your packs up to date, and keeps its own disk use small.

Settings > Updates shows the version you have, updates, crux's disk use, and the versions of crux and Claude Code.

How updates work

crux checks for updates on its own, every half hour while it runs, and downloads them in the background. A new version installs when you quit crux, or when you click Restart now. Your company, settings and jobs stay just as they are.

  • This version: the crux version you have now.
  • The update line says what is happening: up to date, checking, downloading (with a progress line), or ready. Its button is Check now, Try again or Restart now.
  • What's new lists what changed in the update.
  • Claude Code: crux keeps Claude Code up to date too, and shows its version here.
  • Trade packs update with crux. A pack update shows here while it downloads.

When an update is ready, the gear shows a dot, and the chat can show a card with Restart now. Any license covers updates; there is nothing extra to buy.

If an update needs your license sorted first, the line says so with Open License. If an update keeps failing, Report to crux support writes a report for you to check and send. See Troubleshooting.

Advanced > Update address is for crux support only. Leave it alone unless crux support asks you to change it. Use the default puts it back.

Storage

crux is using a total on this computer, split by what it is. crux tidies up on its own a minute after it starts and once a day: temporary files after a day, previews and page pictures over 1 GB or unused for 30 days, and logs over 10 MB. Your company data, chats, bids and backups are never removed.

Free up space tidies up right away. If there is nothing to free, it says Nothing to free right now; crux is already tidy.
