BuildingConnected
The BuildingConnected tab. Who is invited, who looked, who committed and who has no number in, per bid package; invite drafts you send.
The BuildingConnected tab shows your company's BuildingConnected bid invitations for one project, per bid package. It appears in the top bar only while BuildingConnected is on, set up and connected in Settings > GC > Connectors, and goes away if you sign out or the sign-in lapses.
Pick the project
Type part of the job's name or number in Find a BuildingConnected project and click Search, then choose the project. A big invitation list takes a few minutes to read the first time; the tab shows its progress and saves the board, so the next look is instant. Refresh reads BuildingConnected again.
The board
One row per bid package:
| Column | Means |
|---|---|
| Bids due | The package's due date |
| Invited | Firms invited |
| Viewed | Firms that opened the documents |
| Bidding | Firms that clicked Bidding (their own click, not a commitment to your number) |
| Undecided / Not bidding | Firms that have not decided, or declined |
| Bids in | Firms whose bid is in |
| To call | Firms bidding with no bid in yet |
A package with no invites or no one committed is flagged. When BuildingConnected does not answer, the tab shows the last saved board and says when it was saved.
The call list
Call list: firms committed (Bidding) with no bid in yet, soonest due first, with the contact's name and phone. Then make the calls; crux drafts a call script or an email only when you ask.
In chat: "who do I need to call on the clinic?" gives the same list, cited with the project, package and when it was read.
Invite drafts and Send
crux never sends an invitation. It drafts them; you send.
- In chat: "invite the drywall subs to the drywall package". crux builds the list from your BuildingConnected sub directory, the job's Specialty Procurement List and the names you give, and saves an invite draft. Firms already invited to that package are skipped and named.
- On the tab, Invite drafts lists each draft: the package, the firms, when it was drafted.
- Review it. Click Send; the button turns into Confirm: email N invitations. Click it within a few seconds to send. BuildingConnected emails the invitations, and the draft shows sent and when.
- Discard removes a draft you do not want.
crux can also create a bid package in your own BuildingConnected account (name, CSI number, bids due, keywords, instructions pointing at the scope letter): it shows you the exact package first and creates it only on your yes. No sub sees a package until you invite them. Nothing is ever deleted in BuildingConnected from crux.
Good to know
- A bid total in BuildingConnected is the sub's number as BuildingConnected holds it. crux records a quote from the sub's own proposal file, never from that total alone.
- After you send, crux ticks the firms on the job's ITB Checklist with the date.
