Convert old GC jobs
Bring a GC job from the older estimating tool into crux, leveling and scope letters included.
A job started in the older estimating tool has that tool's _ESTIMATOR folder inside it. crux's Convert this job copies what crux can use into its own folder beside it. The general steps (preview, convert, undo, convert again) are on Convert a job from an older tool; this page lists what the GC pack adds.
What the GC pack copies too
Besides crux's own items (decisions, scope, coverage, takeoffs, the call log, the job's status and the old binder), the conversion brings the GC work:
| Item | From the older folder |
|---|---|
| Quote log | _QUOTE_LOG.json |
| Leveling cold read, snapshot and run receipts | _COLD_READ.json, .state/leveling.json, .state/leveling_runs/ |
| Leveling files | _LEVEL* |
| Estimate link and GC carry | _ESTIMATE_LINK.json, _GC_CARRY.json |
| Scope evidence, proposals, exceptions and redlines | _SCOPE_EVIDENCE.json, _SCOPE_PROPOSALS.json, _SCOPE_EXCEPTIONS.json, _SCOPE_REDLINES.md |
| Scope letters and bid bulletins | scopes_data*.js, bulletin_data.js (turned into crux's own scope letter data) |
The preview lists every one of these before anything is copied.
Jobs on the shared drive
The GC pack allows converting a job on a network drive, because a GC's bid folders usually live on the company's share. The preview says so. See Network drives if a share is slow or refuses a write.
After the conversion
- The binder's Leveling folder is crux's own from now on: crux rebuilds the matrices from the quotes, so ask in chat to change one rather than editing the file. See Level sub quotes.
- Level again once after converting, so the run's receipt covers every captured quote.
- What the older tool remembered about your company (not one job) is imported separately: Settings > Shared drives > Import memories.
