Shared drives

Other names for your shared drives, and importing what an older estimating tool remembered.

Settings > Shared drives helps when your jobs live on a company network drive, and when you are moving to crux from an older estimating tool.

Shared drive names

One shared drive often has several names: the server's short name, its full name, and the drive letter it is mapped to (for example P:\). crux treats every name of one shared drive as the same place, so a job opened through one name is the same job through another.

A server's short and full names are already treated as the same place. To add others:

  1. Type one line per shared drive, its names separated by =. For example: the jobs share's network path, then =, then P:\.
  2. Click Save. crux says Saved. crux treats these names as one place. A line that is not a share name is left out, and the message says which.

Import memories

What an older estimating tool remembered (its notes about your company and how you work), imported only when you tick it. Imported memories stay on this computer (personal), and the older folder is never changed.

  1. Under Your memory folders (one per line), type the older tool's memory folder, then click Save folders. A pack can name its usual folders for you (From your pack:).
  2. crux lists the memories it found. Tick the ones crux should know, or Tick all.
  3. Click Import N memories. Nothing is imported until you do. A memory already imported is shown but cannot be ticked again.
