Data quality

Keep the competitor roster and pricing history clean. Review suggested duplicates, merge and undo, and run the integrity check.

Bid tabs spell the same firm many ways ("Rival A Inc", "Rival A, Inc.", "RIVAL A"). Data quality (Estimating Intelligence > Data quality) keeps one record per firm, so the matchup and the competitor history count each rival once.

Suggested duplicates

crux suggests pairs that look like the same firm. Review each firm's identity before any merge:

  • Swap canonical chooses which of the two names is kept.
  • Review merge shows what moves (bids, wins, aliases), then Confirm merge. The other name becomes an alias of the kept one.
  • Not duplicates keeps them as separate records and stops suggesting the pair.

Note: A dismissed suggestion cannot be brought back here. Undo merge restores the last merge only.

The full roster

Every firm with its bids and jobs won. Filter roster narrows the list. Select two or more rows and click Merge selected to merge them in one go; choose the name to keep. Rename changes a firm's canonical name.

After a merge, the line under the list says what was merged, with an Undo merge button (then Confirm undo).

Pricing database integrity

Run the check is a read-only check of the pricing history: duplicate quotes, broken revision chains (a revised quote that lost its original), intake rows that point at nothing, project codes that drifted, and impossible dates. Failures come first, then warnings. It changes nothing; ask crux in chat to work through what it found.

Good to know

  • Merges, renames and dismissals are changes to the company database: they are off while the database cannot be reached.
  • In chat, "is the pricing data clean?" runs the same integrity check.
