How to
Convert a job from an older tool
Bring a job's work from an older estimating tool into crux. You see everything before anything is copied.
If a job was started in an older estimating tool, its folder has that tool's own folder inside it (named _ESTIMATOR). crux can convert it: copy what it can use into its own folder beside it, so you keep your decisions, scope, takeoffs and binder. The older folder and the old binder are never changed.
What is copied
- Decisions, scope, coverage, takeoffs, the call log and the job's status.
- Your pack's own files, such as leveling.
- The old binder, with its folders.
- Every other note, research folder, picture or PDF goes into the binder's From the older tool folder.
- Only old code, backups, and files from features crux does not have stay behind.
crux then reads the job's documents so citations open.
Convert it
- Open the job in Chat, then go to the Project tab. The Convert this job card appears.
- Click Preview the conversion. Nothing changes yet: crux shows exactly what will be copied, what is mapped to a new place, and What stays behind in the older folder.
- Read it. If it is right, click Convert. Otherwise Cancel.
- The card says Job converted and lists what was copied.
Undo or convert again
- Undo the conversion (or Undo) removes exactly what was copied. crux asks first: files you changed since are kept. Keep it leaves everything as it is.
- Convert again adds only what is missing. Nothing in crux's folder is overwritten.
Jobs on a shared drive
A job on a network drive converts only when your pack allows it, and the preview says so. See Troubleshooting.
The older tool's memories
What the older tool remembered about your company (not one job) is imported separately, in Settings > Shared drives > Import memories.
