Your letterhead on documents
Letters, memos, minutes and checklists you send come out on your company letterhead. Notes for yourself stay plain.
When crux makes a Word file or a PDF for you, it puts your company's letterhead on it when the document is going to someone else: your logo, your company name, address and contact lines, and your license and registration numbers at the bottom of each page. Never crux's name or logo.
Set it up once
- Open Settings > Company.
- Upload logo… (PNG or JPEG), then Use this logo.
- Fill in your company name, address, phone and email, and under More details your license and registration numbers and certifications.
- Click Save.
Your company font and colour come from your company files, if your company has them (Settings > Company > Pack company files).
Ask for a document
Ask in the chat, the way you would ask a coworker:
- "Write a memo to the super about weekend access, and make it a Word doc."
- "Turn the meeting notes into minutes I can send to the GC, as a PDF."
- "Make a transmittal for the color samples."
crux writes the document in the job's Binder, then makes the Word file or PDF beside it.
A letter gets the usual parts: the date, who it goes to, an RE: line, the greeting, and at the end "Sincerely," with room to sign and your name, title and company. A memo gets To / From / Date / Re at the top. crux checks who it goes to with you first.
How the page looks
- Page 1: your logo on the left, your company name, address and contact line on the right, and a thin line in your company colour under them.
- Page 2 on: just your company name and the page number at the top, so the letter has room.
- Every page: your license, registration and certification line, small, at the bottom.
When the letterhead goes on
| Goes on by itself | Stays plain |
|---|---|
| Letters, cover letters, memos, transmittals | Your own working notes |
| Proposals, RFI letters, scope letters | Takeoff and estimating notes |
| Meeting minutes, notices, reports | Checklists only your own crew uses |
| Checklists you give to others |
You can always say:
- "Plain, no letterhead" for a document without it.
- "Add our letterhead" to put it on one that would stay plain.
No logo yet
If your company details are not set up yet, crux still makes the document, plain, and says: Add your logo in Settings > Company to put it on documents.
Good to know
- Your company font goes into the Word file so it looks right on any computer, unless the font's licence does not allow that. Then crux uses a standard font and tells you why.
- Your estimate workbook prints your company name, phone and license numbers at the top of each page.
- Everything crux makes is a draft. You review it and send it yourself.
