How to
Record wins and losses
Keep a bid log of what you bid and how it came out, and use it to decide which bids to chase.
crux keeps a bid log: the bids you submitted, to which GC, for how much, and how they came out. It uses it to show results on the Bid Board and to help you decide which bids to chase.
Record a bid and its result
Tell crux in the job's chat, in plain words:
- "We submitted this bid to Acme Builders at $184,500 today."
- "We won this one." / "We lost; the low number was $171,000 and we were third of five."
- "We are not bidding this one." (a No bid) or "We withdrew."
Before it changes a recorded result, crux shows you the change and asks first.
Where results show
- The Bid Board tags each bid Submitted, Won, Lost, No bid or Withdrawn.
- The Project tab shows the job's status chip.
- Ask crux "how do we do with this GC?" for your record: bids, wins, win rate over decided bids, and how far off the winning number you were, when known.
Go / no-go
Before you spend time on a bid, ask crux: "should we chase this one?" crux checks for fatal flaws first (for example scope you do not do, or a bond you cannot get), then scores the bid on scope fit and capacity, the customer and your history with them, commercial risk, the quality of the documents and the schedule, and strategic value. It writes a short cited memo and records the decision in the bid log.
Where the log lives
The bid log is on this computer, in crux's own company data, and it is part of your backup. If your trade pack connects a company database (for example the GC pack's; see Pack sections in Settings), the bid log is kept there instead, so your whole company shares one record. crux says which one it used. If the company database cannot be reached, nothing is saved, and crux says so.
