Binder
The job's written documents (bid brief, RFI log, facts, diary) and the files crux made.
The Binder holds the job's written documents, the ones crux writes while it onboards a bid and keeps up to date afterwards. It follows the job open in Chat. Everything lives in the job's own folder, so a coworker on a shared drive sees the same binder.
If it is empty, crux has not onboarded the job yet: click Ask crux to onboard this bid. See Onboard a bid.
The list on the left
- Brief and RFIs: the executive summary (the bid brief) and the RFI Log.
- Facts and diary: the project facts, the change log and the diary crux keeps of the job.
- Citation ledgers: where each citation crux made points.
- Folders a pack or an older tool's binder brings (for example scopes or alternates) show as groups you can open and close.
- Deliverables > Files crux made: every file crux made for this job (estimate, proposal, RFI letters). Each one is a draft until you send it. Open in Excel, Open in Word, Open PDF or Preview it. If a document is not written yet, Write it now in chat asks crux for it.
A document crux is still writing in the background says so (Being written…, Update queued) and shows the last finished version meanwhile.
Reading a document
- Click a citation to see the cited page in the Citation Peek. See Citations.
- Tick a checkbox in a checklist to save it at once.
- Raw shows the document's plain text (read only); Rendered goes back.
- Copy copies the document.
Editing a document
Click Edit to change the document right on the page, then Done. You can also tick boxes without editing. Right-click for the Format menu (bold, italic, strikethrough, highlight, headings, paragraph, bullet list, checklist item, code, clear formatting). Ctrl+S saves.
- Undo puts the earlier version back. Versions lists every saved version (yours, crux's, and changes made outside crux), and Restore puts any one back.
- If you added a line to a cited section without a source, it is marked Unchecked and stays as you wrote it. Fix in chat asks crux to find each one in the job's documents and add its citation, or mark it as an RFI or an unknown.
- Some files crux computes from (the facts file, the citation ledgers) cannot be edited here; the page says where to change them.
For saving, merging and conflicts, see Edit the binder.
