Production rates

How fast your crews work. Your own rates always win over the crux defaults.

Settings > Production rates says how fast your crews work: units per hour for each surface, method and coat. crux comes with default rates built from freely published sources. They are budget-grade and cited. Your own rates always win over the defaults.

Use your own rate for a default

  1. Under crux default rates, type what you are looking for (for example walls, doors, spray, trim) and click Find.
  2. On the line you want, click Use my own rate.
  3. Type your crew's rate: units per labor hour, one painter, per coat. Click Check, review, and save. crux says Saved. Your rate now wins over the crux default.

Delete your rate to go back: Deleted. The crux default applies again.

Your production rates

Your saved rates are listed under Your production rates. Search them by surface, method or job.

  • Upload a file… or Import a folder… to add many at once. You can say which job these rates came from (optional); it is used for rows that do not name their own job.
  • Save an example template to my Desktop gives you a blank sheet to fill in.
  • Edit with crux opens a chat where you can say, for example, "my crew does 650 SF/hr on walls". You see every change before anything is saved.

How crux uses them

When crux prices a takeoff, it proposes a production rate for every line (surface, substrate, method, coat) and shows the factors for height, lifts, occupancy and colour breaks separately. Where it used a default instead of your own rate, the estimate says so.
