Connections & setup

Your Claude Code sign-in, email and calendar, how many chats run at once, indexing, and the setup checklist.

Settings > Connections & setup holds the connections crux works through and the machine settings.

Claude Code sign-in

The Claude Code account crux works through: your own subscription. It shows signed in as your email, or signed out. Sign in and Sign out open a console window where you finish with your own account; crux only reads the status. See Claude Code and your sign-in.

Email & calendar

crux reads bid invites and your calendar through the Gmail or Outlook connector of your Claude Code account, or (advanced) through Microsoft 365 signed in on this computer only.

  • Status says which one is set up, or Not connected. The Bid Board stays empty until it is.
  • Set up (or Change) opens the setup wizard at the email and calendar step. See The setup wizard, step 7.

crux cannot see the connector itself: it lives in your Claude Code account. If bids stop appearing on the Bid Board, open the setup again.

Microsoft 365 on this computer only

Open Advanced: connect on this computer only (recommended if your Claude Code account is shared).

Instead of the connector in your Claude Code account, crux signs in to Microsoft 365 on this computer, for your Windows user only. People who share your Claude Code account do not see your email. crux reads bid invites and your calendar, and saves email drafts for you to send; it never sends anything.

  1. Click Connect. Your browser opens Microsoft's own sign-in page; crux never sees your password.
  2. Type the code crux shows on Microsoft's page (it is already copied, so you can paste it), and sign in.
  3. If it says Your company’s Microsoft admin must approve crux once, click Copy the link (or Open the approval page) and send it to your admin. When they have approved it, click Connect again.
  4. When it says Connected on this computer as your email, you are done. Test checks it.
  • Microsoft app (client id): only if your company gave you its own Microsoft app for crux. Click Use this app; changing it signs you out. Use the standard app goes back.
  • Sign out and remove removes the sign-in from this computer.
  • If Microsoft asks you to sign in again, click Connect.

Chats on this computer

  • Concurrent chats: how many chats may run at the same time. Each open chat runs Claude Code plus its tools. Machine default is 4 with 32 GB of memory or more, 2 below. It applies to the next chat you start.
  • When I close the window: Keep crux running in the tray when I close the window. Off: closing the window quits crux and frees the memory its chats use. Either way, a chat you are not looking at closes after a couple of idle minutes and picks up where it left off when you open it.

Indexing on this computer

How crux makes a job's documents searchable. Use the graphics card to speed up indexing:

  • Off (the default): indexing uses the processor.
  • On: indexing is faster, but on some laptops the screen may flicker or go blank for a few seconds while crux uses the graphics card. If Windows reports a display reset while crux is using it, crux turns it off again by itself and says so here, with Turn it back on.

Setup checklist

The first-run checklist and the tools crux installs for you. The line says whether every item is green, or which are open. Open the setup wizard runs it again; your progress is kept. See The setup wizard.

Advanced diagnostics > Run claude doctor runs Claude Code's own installation check and shows the result. crux support may ask you for it.
