App tabs

Project

One job's home page: deadlines, crux's questions, documents, takeoff, estimate, RFIs and drafts.

The Project tab is the home of one job: the job open in Chat (or the one picked in Chat's Project list). Takeoff and Binder follow the same job.

If it says No project selected, the open chat is a general chat; pick a job in Chat's Project list. If it says Choose a project folder, pick the folder that holds the bid documents in Chat (the folder button in the sidebar).

A new job shows Start here: ask crux to onboard this bid. Click Ask crux to onboard this bid to send that request in Chat. See Onboard a bid.

The top of the page

  • The job's name, and its status chip once there is one (for example submitted, won or lost; see Win/loss).
  • Refresh reads the job again.
  • The number on the Project tab itself counts the questions waiting for you.

Onboarding progress

While crux reads a new job, a strip shows the steps, what is Still to do, and anything Not covered (a file that could not be read). For a file that failed, click Retry, or Try everything not read again. Open and Show in folder take you to the file. You can keep working; answers use what is ready and say what is not.

Shared drives

  • Someone has this job open: when a coworker has the same job open on a shared drive, a banner names them. If they hold the job, crux holds your estimate, takeoff and binder saves so you do not overwrite their work. Click Wait to wait until they close it, or Take over. See Troubleshooting.
  • Convert this job: shown when the job has work from an older estimating tool. See Convert a job from an older tool.

Needs you

crux's questions about this job, one at a time: anything that changes the price or the go/no-go, as crux reads the bid form, the addenda and your trade's spec sections. Each question says why it matters and where it comes from. See Questions and RFIs for every answer button.

Quick facts beside it shows the first facts crux found within a minute of starting.
