GC pack · Connectors

Connectors

Settings > GC > Connectors. Turn BuildingConnected and Bonfire on, set them up and connect them. The only place to do it.

Connectors are optional links to outside bid services. Not every company uses them, so each one is off until you turn it on. Settings > GC > Connectors is the only place to turn them on, set them up and connect them: never a chat.

After you turn a connector on or off, tabs follow within a few seconds. The chat picks up the change from the next new chat: start one.

BuildingConnected

Bid packages, your sub directory, the status board and invite drafts. Invitations go out only when you press Send on the BuildingConnected tab.

Before you start: your Autodesk app

crux talks to BuildingConnected through an app your company registers with Autodesk (Autodesk Platform Services). Whoever manages your Autodesk account does this once:

  1. Sign in at aps.autodesk.com and open My apps. Create an app that has a Client Secret.
  2. Give it access to the BuildingConnected API.
  3. Set its Callback URL to exactly http://localhost:8788/bc/callback.
  4. Note the app's Client ID and Client Secret.

Set it up

  1. Turn BuildingConnected on.
  2. Step 1 of 2: click Set up. crux's own sign-in box opens: type the Client ID and the Client Secret there. You never type them into the page or the chat; crux seals them for your Windows account.
  3. Step 2 of 2: click Connect. Your browser opens the Autodesk sign-in: sign in with the Autodesk ID linked to BuildingConnected. Cancel sign-in stops waiting.
  4. It says Connected. The BuildingConnected tab is in the top bar.

The sign-in refreshes itself. After 14 days without use it lapses: the tab goes, the card says not connected, and you click Connect again.

  • Sign out forgets the sign-in on this computer (the tab goes).
  • Start over forgets the Client ID, the Client Secret and the sign-in on this computer (click it twice to confirm).

Careful: "Autodesk refused the callback address" means the app's Callback URL is not exactly the address above. Fix it at aps.autodesk.com, then Connect again. An error that the client id "does not have access to the api product" means the app lacks the BuildingConnected API, or the Client ID was mistyped: turn the API on, or Start over and Set up again.

Bonfire

Owner Q&A, notices and addenda from Bonfire opportunities, read-only, through your own signed-in browser window.

  1. Turn Bonfire on.
  2. Bonfire portal address: the start of any opportunity link on your agency's portal (for example https://agency.bonfirehub.com). Click Save address. Left empty, sign-in uses Bonfire's general sign-in page. Your company layer may fill it in for you.
  3. Click Open Bonfire sign-in. Bonfire opens in a Microsoft Edge window with its own crux profile. Sign in to Bonfire there yourself, once.
  4. Check sign-in shows Signed in or Not signed in.

crux never sees your Bonfire password. It remembers the sign-in for reading Q&A and addenda, and never posts, uploads or submits anything. Bonfire sign-in needs Microsoft Edge on the computer.
