Getting started
Your company profile
Your company's details and logo, your own contact details, and sharing them with coworkers.
Every estimate, proposal and letter crux drafts carries your company's name, logo and contact details, never crux branding. crux keeps them in Settings > Company.
What crux asks for
Your company: company logo, company name, mailing address (as it should print on your letterhead, one line per row), office phone and office email.
You: your name, your title (for example Estimator, or Owner) and your email. What should crux call you? is optional; letters still use your full name. crux never guesses your name.
More details (optional): legal name, fax, website, how many days your proposals are valid, union affiliation, license and registration numbers, certifications (DBE, MBE, WBE and others), the trades you do with your own crews, and where you work. crux uses them on proposals and when it helps you decide which bids to chase.
Fill it in or change it
- Open Settings > Company.
- Fill in the fields. To add a logo, click Upload logo… (PNG or JPEG), then Use this logo.
- Click Save. The bar at the bottom says Changes not saved yet until you do. Undo changes puts back what was saved.
A company profile file from a coworker
When someone at your company has already set crux up, they can send you a company profile file. It carries the company's details, logo, rates, material prices, templates and company knowledge in one locked file. It never carries their own name and contact details, sign-ins, license, chats or notes.
To use one:
- In the setup wizard, step Company & you, click I have a company profile file. Or, later, open Settings > Backup > Company profile and click Update from company profile….
- Choose the file and type its password. Ask whoever sent it; crux cannot open it without the password.
- crux shows what the file fills in, or what would change: lines Added, Changed and No longer in the company file. Anything you changed yourself since the last company file is marked you changed this.
- Click Use this company profile. Add your own name, title and email, then Save and continue.
To make one for a coworker: open Settings > Backup > Company profile, click Share company profile…, choose a password, and save the file. Send the file and the password separately: for example the file by email and the password by phone.
Pack company files
A trade pack can keep files for your company too: letterhead, brand, fonts, knowledge and templates. They are listed under Settings > Company > Pack company files. They come from a pack or from a company profile file. See Company settings.
