Troubleshooting

FAQ

Short answers to common questions about crux.

Do my bid documents leave my computer?

Your files stay in your own folders. crux works through Claude Code with your own Claude account, so Claude reads what a task needs under your account. crux's own data (company details, rates, chats) stays on this computer, and in the backups you make.

Does crux send anything for me?

No. Proposals, RFIs and emails are drafts. You review them and send them yourself. crux only reads your email and calendar.

Can crux make up a quantity?

No. Quantities come from the lines in the drawing files. A missing number (a wall height, for example) is asked of you, and nothing counts until you approve it on the takeoff canvas.

What does "budget-grade" mean?

A price or rate you have not confirmed: a crux default, or a price with no date or older than 90 days. Estimates mark these lines so you can see what still needs a real number.

What does PRICE NEEDED mean?

A line on the estimate with no price at all yet. Give crux a price in the chat, upload a price list, or edit the file.

Do I need my own Claude subscription?

Yes. crux works through Claude Code signed in with your own Claude account. See Claude Code and your sign-in.

Can I use crux on two computers?

One license runs on one computer at a time. To move it, release it on the old computer and activate it on the new one. See Your license key.

Can coworkers share our company setup?

Yes: share a company profile file. Each person needs their own license.

Can I use my own estimate spreadsheet?

Yes. Upload it in Settings > Templates and ask crux in a chat to set it up.

Which trades does crux know?

Painting and coatings comes with crux. Other trades come as trade packs. See Packs.

Does crux work offline?

You can open crux, read the binder and look at your jobs. Chats need the internet, because Claude does the reading and writing. The license is checked from time to time and keeps working offline for a while.

How do I get my data back if my computer dies?

From a backup. Set up automatic backup to a folder that is copied off your computer, such as OneDrive.

Where do I report a bug or ask for a feature?

Tell crux in any chat: "report this to crux support". See Support.
